WHAT SPECIFIERS WANT

RIBA Insight has published a report entitled ‘What specifiers want from product manufacturers’. This great bit of research was undertaken by NBS (National Building Specification) and looks at what specifiers look for when choosing products and services, how people create and use specifications in the UK and how they see specifications developing in the future.

The research is based on a survey of 500 respondents from a range of professions, companies and sizes of organisation and is a must-read for individuals, companies and organisations wishing to gain an awareness of specifiers’ needs, current trends in specifications and future market predictions.

The report illustrates that the vast majority of specifiers believe in producing specifications digitally and that almost 70% of specifiers need to produce proprietary specifications by product brand. The report also shows that over 60% of specifiers are currently looking for BIM objects on manufacturers’ websites as well as other information. Although hard copy brochures and directories still have a place and should not be disregarded when it comes to marketing communications, the report reinforces the fact that websites are vital for attracting the right visitors and that presenting the right information on websites can make all the difference when specifiers are choosing between products.

At CFA we believe in listening to key industry research such as this Insight document and providing clients with solutions that meet changing client requirements and market trends.

The report is the first in what looks set to be a very informative series. To get a copy of the report visit www.riba-insight.comor email CFA at info@cfa-group.com.
